"The Lobster"
Weird. But why? Sort of good? Unclear. Could be shorter.
Entirely joyless. Which I guess is the point? And that's not to say I didn't like it, I think? But there's only so far unwavering commitment to an idea can take you.
"Topkapi"
Classic heist shenanigans.
"In a Valley of Violence"
Richard nailed this one: It's a Western, but the director thinks he's still making horror movies. Which should work, but he's dont it the wrong way round. The characters are disappointingly stupid and the whole thing is utterly predictable. Jon Travolta, however, continues to inspire an unexpected level of affection.
It's not her fault, and actually her American accent is quite good, but all I can see is Amy Pond.
"Hunt for the Wilderpeople"
Yes.
